Documents Required :-
The main documents required while importing the used cars in Burundi are as follows :-
- Original Registration Card
- Copy of Passport
- Original Purchase Invoice
- Original Bill of Lading showing chassis number, engine number, cubic capacity, year of manufacture, brand and model.
With the relaxation in the import duties, exemption of age restrictions and no requirement of inspection, more Japan used car importers are looking forward to import quality Japan used cars for export and re-export purposes. In-spite of the fact that there are less cars on Burundi roads in the present scenario, it is expected that with the passage of time the demand of the used cars will increase in Burundi and they will be importing huge number of used cars to meet the growing demand of the citizens.
Burundi being a land locked country depends mainly on the ports Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania and Mombasa in Kenya for the import of used cars from Japan. These two shipping ports are very popular for importing vehicles for many other African countries as well. Generally, RoRo (Roll-on Roll-off) shipping method is used for shipment of vehicles. However, on request of customers more expensive yet save method of shipping,container method is used.
